Rain is a series of conceptual tracks produced for Webbed Hand Records. Each Rain is a CD-length ambient recording ideal for quiet listening while meditating, writing, or going to sleep. Typically the recordings in this series are minimalistic soundscapes, with motifs played out cyclically rather than progressively, in order to induce relaxed states.

Webbed Hand Youtube Channel

As you can probably tell, Webbed Hand’s catalog output has slowed recently. There are plans to get things up and running again as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we’ve created a Youtube channel to share newly-made videos of some classic tracks by label artists. Presently there are 11 videos, and as time permits I’ll be creating and adding more. If you’ve got a Youtube account, feel free to subscribe, add as friend, and give feedback.

wh120 Mystified – SphereSlowChime

“SphereSlowChime” by Mystified is a subtle, meditative piece crafted using generative methods, characterized by long reverberating gong and chime sounds.

“SphereSlowChime” was derived from a piece of generative midi created in the late 1990’s by Thomas Park. The MIDI was made with fractal generation, using the geometry of a sphere for seed data. In 2009, this piece of MIDI was transformed into a WAV file, slightly edited, and then processed using a windchime effect and reverberation. Mystified would like to cite Akashic Crow’s Nest as an influence for this music. — Thomas Park

Akashic Crow’s Nest ventures into a new stage of transmutation with this soothing alchemy-themed album.

The sound of Akashic Crow’s Nest begins with the use of an image synthesizer which turns very long photographic images into audio output, in the manner of a piano roll. The initial part of composing this music is thus designing the picture. For this latest project, the first audio output is converted to MIDI and run through a different software synthesizer, before being subjected to a battery of effects to get to the sounds you hear on this album.

“Pavonine is an ambient project that utilises small nuances of sounds
in order to create enveloping soundscapes for somnambulists.

Each track tells a very personal story using field recordings, found
sound, and frequency modulation. The telling is in the smallest
points of the tracks as much as the overall environments created.

As always, I recommend headphones and dark rooms. I hope you enjoy
what I am sharing as much as I enjoyed its creation.”

“Le joli coeur” is a large and growing work by various artists under the collective name orchestra eclettica e sincretista, which builds a diverse collection of variations on a very simple theme, just a few piano chords.

This release comprises volumes 1 to 3. The international collaboration of talents was organized by Marco Lucchi of Italy.

Here is what Marco Lucchi has written about the project:

“le joli coeur” is the first project compiled by o.e.s. (orchestra eclettica e sincretista)…

o.e.s. is a collective working on shared projects…

“le joli coeur” – commissioned by Mauro Carrera for an exibition of Jean Cocteau, with hommages to Cocteau by some contemporary artists, premiered in Milano, 23rd october 2008 – was originated on the ending cadenza of a song by The Penguin Cafe Orchestra…

the song is “Now Nothing” and it ends the album “Broadcasting from Home” released in 1984…

starting from these four chords’ cadenza o.e.s. artists (under the leading by Marco Lucchi) composed tracks or fragments, offering their interpretation…

the whole project was finished and compiled by Marco Lucchi in the ending days of 2008 and it is dedicated to the lovely memory of Simon Jeffes…

From the artist:

“Atropos has been in the works for some time. The album was originally never going to be released. We then decided under a different moniker… but scratched that and decided to release it under The Nature of Light. This album is the culmination of absolute and pure experimentation and many instanced of the recording are of questionable perfection. The ENTIRE album was created from three organic stringed instruments. Coupled with creative and exotic useage of effects.

The entire album was recorded with a Yamaha Bass, a Gibson Les Paul Custom and a Fender Standard American Strat. ALL of the sounds were birthed from playing, hitting, screaming into the pickups, touching the output jack and other various methods of coercing sound. All of the sounds started life as an organic and analog source.

We are all fascinated with effects and how to use them unconventionally… so we fused the two worlds of organic and electronic and this is the result. An album composed of dark, brittle and destructed textures… from the warmth of the real.

You will hear passages of darkness, of beauty… Some that are cold and some that are soothing. Some will be epic, while others simple. Some of the audio does not sound like it could have ever been guitar… but we assure, that at some point in their life… they were.

We hope you enjoy listening to this.
