EXOXEN has spent over 15 years as a home-studio tape project among a group of friends. The sound of this group may best be described as a kind of twisted lo-fi psychedelic, mingling elements of rock, electronica, and noise. This is their second release on Webbed Hand, this time with less emphasis on noise and more emphasis on the psychedelic

Using as a foundation a long-form composition by Akashic Crow's Nest, Saluki Regicide adds layers of characteristic embellishments: obscure samples, bizarre rhythmic loops, peculiar washes of sound, snippets of string melody, all adding up to an interesting meeting of styles.

Mystified's Rain 1 is a minimalistic and hypnotic composition intended for deep listening (or sleep listening). Panning across the stereo spectrum is a bright sound with a patter of rainy static in its wake. Strangely soothing and stimulating at the same time.

Mystified's Rain 2 is a shimmering hailstorm of mysterious percussive sounds resonating across a wide space. This is foremost an album of auditory texture which seeks to induce in the listener a reverie of vague mental associations and feelings.

Kittenhead is the latest long-form (CD-length) production by Djinnestan, departing significantly from the Rain series and Purr. In many ways, it defies easy categorization. It is very ambient, but contains rhythms. It is dark, yet at the same time whimsical. It includes acoustic instruments and vocals, but they have been processed virtually beyond recognition. Nonetheless it is a subtle and pleasant listen.

Here is a contribution to the acclaimed Rain series on Webbed Hand by 833-45, a project of the talented producer K.M. Krebs. A long-form ambient work awash in subtle throbs and hypnotic crackle, this entrancing recording presents the 833-45 sound in a CD length journey through a more hidden auditory spectrum of aerial electronic phenomena.

Akashic Crow's Nest's first regular album release of 2007 continues ACN's adventures in ambient sound generated from images. The tracks in "Hawk of an Uncanny Nest" explore different mythic ideas of the otherworld. The sound spaces themselves are sculpted to create soothing and transporting experiences for the listener.

A third Rain-themed longform ambient composition by Djinnestan. Perhaps still in a forest, but now at the banks of a stream, with wisps of fog, chirping crickets, the moon, and other mysterious nocturnal elements. This CD-length work creates a nice acoustic mood for meditation or sleep.

The second soothing dreamscape by Akashic Crow's Nest employs ACN's characteristic generative textures plus additional ambient samples to sculpt a smooth and restful atmosphere to lull the brainwaves into a relaxed state.

Marco Lucchi returns to Webbed Hand with another multimedia conceptual album, this one consisting of ten audio tracks, four videos and a poem. This release is centered on an inspiration drawn from the music scores of cinema.

Webbed Hand Records presents the audio release of a multimedia project curated and compiled by Marco Lucchi (who has two previous releases with us). This work brings together some notable talent in the areas of phonography, ambient and experimental music, as well as in poetry and film.

Webbed Hand Records' first release of 2006 is an anthology of recordings by the label's founder, C.P. McDill. This selection represents the spectrum of his sound art projects from 1993 to 2005, excluding the long-form ambient recordings.

"Water Wind" is a long-form expedition in abstract beats and textures, cutting across several subgenres of experimental electronica, including IDM, electroacoustic, d-n-b, glitch and ambient. Ever shifting and mutating, this composition keeps the attention riveted from beginning to end.

This new electroacoustic longform piece by Andrew Latham's Ghostheory project takes Webbed Hand's "Rain" concept in a darker, more industial direction. A shifting palette of drones, clangs, inscrutable noises, and static are all blurred together into a hypnotic journey that could be either soothing or stimulating, depending on your volume settings.

Stephen Philips of Dark Duck Records decided to create a remix of mystified's piece, "Fishery". He added environments, drones and other sounds and came up with a wonderful version of this piece he calls "Texture One". "Textures Two" and other works will appear on other netlabels.

Sound artist Mika Björklund's latest project is a journey by evocation to the abandoned island city of Gunkanjima, which for a while during the 20th Century contained a heavily populated mining settlement. This desolate place still has its apartment towers, factories, schools and other building intact but crumbling.

What more need I say? Heath Yonaites and K.M. Krebs, both figures who loom large and formidable in the field of imaginative/speculative sound art, have collaborated on an album. Ideal for headphones, or if you are blessed with a really great speaker setup, an environment you could immerse yourself in and swim around.

An hour-long transmission from the celestial entity known as Tribe of Astronauts. A pleasing wash of white noises, drones, and other soundscape elements. Similar in many respects to our Rain series of ambient recordings. You can sleep to it.

The album Risen consists a pair of long-form works by Mika Björklund, a young Finnish sound artist who has previously released Nocturne [wh054] on Webbed Hand. This is definitely headphones-in-the-dark music -- real introvert listening.

The Light Will Fill the Darkness and Obliterate It is a poetic and richly textured work by Canadian sound artist K.M. Krebs. These tracks are blended together into a shifting exploration as evocative and powerful as the titles they bear.

This unusual experimental work is a group of blended variations on a simple structure and limited set of tones and sounds. From such a small tonal palette, great variety and depth can nonetheless be attained. The Tribe of Astronauts enjoyed making this, and you will enjoy listening.

The indomitable Mystified has teamed up with some artists of his acquaintance to assemble this mix of unusual ambient works, based around a series of samples generated by programs that convert fractal information into sound files.

Fire up your narghile (hookah, shisha) and settle back for some compelling arabic melodies and rhythms, performed by Kaazim Zareb, by profession a bellydance accompanist, who in this creative departure brings a jazzy improvisational flavor to mellow arabic art music. These tracks blend elements of traditional Middle Eastern musical idioms with contemporary electronica mixing style.

Masterful abstract paintings in sound, wrought through the collaborative brilliance of Raphael Flores and mystified (aka Thomas Park). A transatlantic masterpiece of shared samples and creative accord.

This long-form ambient piece is a collaboration of Marco Lucchi with his son, Dario. Marco handles the electronic parts, and Dario contributes improvisations on his French Horn. The work as a whole warmly illustrates the idea of "repetition with variation" as familiar motifs rotate but there are changes.

Webbed Hand welcomes the work of Marco Lucchi, a noted and very skilled musician who has distinguished himself in Italy for his work in the experimental, new age, and electronica genres. This album is the audio document of a multimedia performance which took place in 1999, based around the texts of French poet Jean Michel Maulpoix, who took part in this event.

Despite being "minimal" this new opus by Mystified is also full of subtlety and warmth. In a nutshell it is a long-form dronescape, lightly seasoned with dimly audible sparkles, tones and harmonics.

Vincent Bergeron comes to Webbed Hand Records with a very unusual album. A work of surreal pop/cabaret/experimental music with lyrics in French. Compelling and very listenable.

Somewhere in the spectrum between Musique Concrete and Phonography, is a vast gray area that is disowned and disputed by either side. This compilation treats this no-man's land as its playground.

Finnish electronica artist Mika Björklund makes his debut on Webbed Hand with a long-form ambient composition inspired by other long-form albums on this label, such as the Rain series. This excellent track is both engaging and relaxing, and recommended for those times when you want to unwind for the night.

Mark Hamn, aka Francesco Giannico from Taranto Italy, has brewed up some remarkable sound art. Each composition is named for a prefix, but at their core, each rumbles with the geologic power of a shifting landscape.

The last surviving tape of sound experiments made by C.P. McDill from a period of creative work spanning 1988-93, finally recovered, remixed, and mastered for Webbed Hand release. Exposes the roots of McDill's audio aesthetics.

An acid-test jazz/rock improv ensemble which calls its style "fiction noise freakout" music, Seikudeso is a studio-shy group who gave rare consent to be recorded live while on one of their periodic US tours.

Darkdrone Radio has regularly featured works by Webbed Hand artists in its rotation, and to show our appreciation for this abundance of promotion and exposure, we're collaborating with Darkdrone to assemble this mix of new work and special edits of work already released.

Carried along by ectoplasmic bass through a place vast and unlit, you perceive great presences in the distance, huge things passing, while hovering nearby are strange small creatures which occasionally mumble and titter in your ear.

A richly detailed work which takes the listener on a tour of myriad architectures of sound. A tour of many changes and wonders, it captivates the listener's rapt attention through its entire length.

Mystified's third Rain album is a bright, languid, minimalistic composition which conveys a sense of self-sufficient solitude. Piano keyboard notes and chords are plucked from space and reverberate lightly in the mind.

Here is another fine long-form ambient composition by the prolific Mystified. Good for both headphone psychonautics or quiet low-volume ambience, this work is a subtle and shifting composition of echoing percussions across a windy landscape.

"Falling" is a word which can be applied both literally and metaphorically. And in both senses, there is a kind of terminal velocity that one reaches after falling for long enough. What if there is no bottom? Would you get so used to descending that it feels like being still?

A 74-minute ambient track. The setting here comes across not as a fairytale forest, as in Rain 1 [wh028], rather more like an ancient abandoned city on the edge of a desert, as viewed in a grainy film. For some of more sensitive intuition, not empty at all but bustling with ghosts.

A follow-up to "Ghosties" (wh029), this is another collection of strange textural works, blending drones and other samples into opulent and ruined atmospheres. Liminal sounds give rise to mystic voices.

The Rain series has at last a contribution from spoonPhase. This recording takes you into the vast cavernous spaces of your mind, where the rhythms of nature are quietly performed by the elements and sightless creatures of the deep.
